2.Presentation of services

Bénin-Ganxo (beninganxo.com) is an online cultural and educational platform dedicated to promoting Benin and African cultures. It offers the following services:

• Cultural and educational quizzes — Hundreds of quizzes covering geography, animals, languages, sciences, history, IT, the Bible, French and English grammar, cinema, myths and legends.
• Articles & Courses — Bilingual editorial tutorials (French/English) accompanying each quiz, written to prepare and deepen users' knowledge.
• 🇧🇯 Secrets of Benin — A full 14-chapter digital book covering geography, the Dahomey kingdoms, the Amazons, Vodoun, gastronomy, music, festivals, sport, notable figures, the Fon language, society, economy, e-services, and the Beninese diaspora. Free online reading.
• Fon ↔ French Dictionary — A bilingual phrasebook of 7,821 expressions in the Fon language of Benin, searchable by free bidirectional search (FR→Fon and Fon→FR), alphabetical navigation, and accompanied by an integrated translator.
• Points and leaderboard system — Points and level attribution to registered users based on quiz performance, with a general leaderboard.
• Community space — Comments on the book Secrets of Benin and on the Fon dictionary, allowing users to share their opinions and suggestions.

3.Access and use of the site

Bénin-Ganxo is accessible to anyone with an Internet connection. Access to the site is free. Certain features (score saving, leaderboard participation, quiz submission, publishing comments with name attribution) require creating an account. Editorial content — articles, the Secrets of Benin book, and the Fon dictionary — is freely accessible without registration.

The publisher makes every effort to ensure service availability, without guaranteeing permanent accessibility. Maintenance, updates, or technical incidents may temporarily interrupt the service. The publisher reserves the right to modify or discontinue the service at any time, without notice or compensation.

Use of the site implies full acceptance of these Terms. Users who do not accept these terms are invited not to use the site.

4.Registration and user accounts

To benefit from Bénin-Ganxo's advanced features, users may create an account by providing a username, a valid email address, and a password. Users agree to provide accurate information and keep it up to date.

The account is strictly personal and non-transferable. The user is solely responsible for the confidentiality of their credentials and any activity performed from their account. In case of loss or theft of credentials, the user may use the "Forgot password" feature or contact the publisher.

The publisher reserves the right to suspend or delete any account without notice in case of violation of these Terms, abusive behavior, or attempted fraud.

5.Code of conduct

By using Bénin-Ganxo, users agree to comply with the following rules:

• Not to use the site for unlawful, fraudulent, or public-order-breaching purposes.
• Not to publish hateful, discriminatory, pornographic, violent, or dignity-violating content.
• Not to attempt to bypass the site's security, authentication, or scoring systems.
• Not to create multiple accounts for the purpose of manipulating leaderboards or the points system.
• Not to reproduce, copy, or commercially exploit any part of the site without prior written authorization.
• Not to use bots, scrapers, or any automated tool to collect site data.
• Not to circumvent the technical protections put in place on editorial content (book, dictionary, articles).

Any breach of these rules may result in the suspension or permanent deletion of the user's account, as well as legal action if warranted.

6.Quizzes and user contributions

Bénin-Ganxo allows registered users to submit quizzes. Any submitted quiz is reviewed by the moderation team before publication. The publisher reserves the right to refuse, modify, or delete any quiz that does not comply with these Terms or the site's editorial standards.

By submitting a quiz, users warrant that its content is accurate, that they are the author or hold the necessary rights, and that it does not violate any third-party rights. The user grants the publisher a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, and distribute the submitted quiz within the Bénin-Ganxo service.

The points and levels system awarded at the end of quizzes is defined unilaterally by the publisher and may be modified at any time. These points have no monetary value and are non-refundable.

Users can report any quiz containing errors or inappropriate content via the report button available on each quiz. Reports are handled by the moderation team as quickly as possible.

7.Protected editorial content

🇧🇯 Secrets of Benin — Digital Book

The book "Secrets of Benin" available free online is an original work by the publisher. It consists of 14 chapters covering the history, culture, gastronomy, Fon language, society, and economy of Benin. This content is protected by copyright. Online reading is permitted for personal use. Any reproduction, distribution, adaptation, or commercialization, even partial, is strictly prohibited without prior written authorization.

Technical protection measures (prohibition of bulk text selection and copying) are in place on this content. Any attempt to circumvent these protections is prohibited.

Fon ↔ French Dictionary

The Fon ↔ French dictionary, comprising 7,821 expressions, constitutes an original database protected by sui generis database rights. Users may copy individual entries one at a time for personal use via the provided button. Any systematic, automated, or bulk extraction of dictionary data — by any means — is strictly prohibited.

Articles & Courses

The tutorials and editorial articles published on Bénin-Ganxo are original works by the publisher, available free of charge for educational purposes. Their reproduction or publication on third-party sites requires prior authorization and must cite the source "Bénin-Ganxo — beninganxo.com".

8.Comments and suggestions

Bénin-Ganxo offers the ability to leave comments on the Secrets of Benin book as well as comments and improvement suggestions on the Fon dictionary. These spaces are open to logged-in users and anonymous visitors alike.

By publishing a comment or suggestion, the user agrees to:

• Write content that is respectful, constructive, and relevant to the topic.
• Not to publish hateful, defamatory, offensive, or third-party-harming content.
• Not to use the comments section for advertising or commercial purposes.
• Accept that the publisher reserves the right to moderate, hide, or delete any non-compliant comment.

By submitting an improvement suggestion for the dictionary, the user accepts that this suggestion may be incorporated into a future version of the dictionary without any specific compensation or copyright.

9.Personal data and privacy

As part of using Bénin-Ganxo, the publisher collects and processes personal data, including: username, email address, IP address, quiz results, game history, and published comments.

The integrated Fon dictionary translator uses the Google Translate API. The publisher cannot be held liable for the quality or accuracy of translations produced by this third-party service.

13.Hyperlinks

The Bénin-Ganxo site may contain links to third-party sites (Google Translate, Google AdSense, etc.). These links are provided for informational purposes. The publisher has no control over these sites and disclaims any liability for their content, privacy policies, or practices.

14.Amendments to the TOS

15.Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms of Service are governed by Beninese law. In the event of a dispute relating to the interpretation or execution of these Terms, the parties agree to seek an amicable solution before any legal action.

Failing amicable resolution within thirty (30) days, any dispute will be submitted to the competent courts of Benin, to which the parties grant exclusive jurisdiction, notwithstanding multiple defendants or third-party claims.
